Are you AdoptReady?

In Ontario, it is essential that adoptive parents receive specific education to prepare them to meet the needs of adopted children, whether the adoption is public, private or international.

To be AdoptReady™, you are required to successfully complete:

  • An adoption home study prepared by an adoption professional designated by a Children’s Aid Society or by an approved private adoption professional. Home studies in Ontario are completed using the Structured Analysis Family Evaluation (SAFE) format.
  • The Parent Resources for Information, Development and Education (PRIDE) training. Once you complete the training, you will receive a certificate.

Once you complete these two programs you are considered AdoptReady. With your AdoptReady status you will be invited to upgrade your AdoptOntario profile (to access videos of Waiting Children). As well, you will invited to apply for the Adoption Resources Databank. Click here to learn more about the databank

With your AdoptReady™ status, you will have access to videos of children posted on the Waiting Children section of the website when the videos are available.
