Xander is often very sweet and helpful, with a great love of grocery shopping. Find him in the fruit and vegetable section, as these are his favourites! Xander is a silly, active little guy, who can count, recite the alphabet, and excels with sensory activities like jumping on the trampoline and playing with playdough.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Personality Academics

Tanya is an energetic, enthusiastic 6-year-old. She enjoys all kinds of different activities, such as swimming, art, and science. She is very gentle with the puppy in her current home. Xander, 4-years-old and always on the go, loves singing and will put a smile on anyone's face. He is very sweet, helpful, and cuddly, especially with his big sister!

Tanya's teacher describes her as "lovely, lovely, lovely." She knows her numbers and letters and plays with friends at school. Tanya benefits from a consistent routine and supervision at school. When there was a new student in her class, Tanya took it upon herself to show him around and make him feel welcome. Xander is not yet in school but is working at home on sensory activities and making great gains.

Special Considerations Matching Considerations

It is important that Tanya's caregivers continue to supervise her when outside the house as she does not seem to have a sense of fear in potentially dangerous situations, such as crossing the street. She does respond well to reminders to stick close to caregivers. Like typical siblings, she is sometimes rough with her little brother, Xander, but also has instances of hugging and cuddling him. Xander benefits from reminders to be gentle with those around him. He is always very soft and sweet with the baby in the house. He can be quite strong-willed and stubborn, but is also eager to please, and can be redirected. Due to his early life experiences, Xander's speech can be difficult to understand. With supports, it is improving.

Other children in the home would need to be much older than this sibling pair. One stay-at-home parent would be ideal. Trauma and attachment therapy are recommended once they are settled in their adoptive home.

Openness Questions?

Tanya and Xander have four half-siblings. An openness order will include 4-6 visits per year with their older sister and four visits per year with their biological father. In addition, Tanya's and Xander's adoptive parents will be asked to provide two updates per year to their birth father.

Please see Tanya and Xander's profile on the AdoptOntario Waiting Children list with the case ID 17177 and 17176, respectively.
