TALIA BELIEVES...

“Being generous of spirit is a wonderful way to live”

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Personality Academics

Talia is a helper to all! She is generous, thoughtful and very considerate of others’ feelings. She takes joy in everything she does and is always open to trying new things, whether it is playing sports like soccer or volleyball, swimming or being active fishing, biking and dancing. Talia is always on the go learning as many new skills and acquiring new hobbies. She also enjoys doing crafts and playing on her tablet. Recently, she has added to her repertoire of interests and is taking karate and gymnastics.

Given her thoughtful and caring nature, it is no surprise that Talia is always the first to stand up for her peers and what she believes in. She is currently attending public school and has an Individual Education Plan in place to support her in the areas of her behaviour. Talia can be very sensitive and at times needs support in thinking positive. She continues to work hard in areas that can be more challenging for her.

Special Considerations Matching Considerations

Transitions can be difficult for Talia and she requires support for these transitions. To support her in processing her early life experiences Talia currently has a Residential Intervention Worker to support her during difficult and challenging times. She is attending counselling sessions to assist her in her feelings and allow her to process the several losses she has experienced in her life so that she may move forward with healthy attachments. It is recommended that she continue with therapeutic services once she is placed in her adoptive home. Talia will continue to need ongoing support building her self-esteem.

Love, structure, consistency and a strong family unit are needed for Talia. A family who is open to any future unknowns, has the ability to access community resources, and will support Talia in reaching her fullest potential is essential. If you are energetic, patient and willing to be active and involved, you have a lot in common with this wonderful young woman. Talia will need to be the youngest child by several years or the only child in the home given her needs. An adoptive family for Talia will need to be understanding of the impacts of trauma and related needs and behaviours as a result of difficult early life experiences. A family for Talia will focus efforts on making her feel accepted in her new home.

Openness Questions?

Talia has a younger sister who was recently adopted. She has a relationship with her sister and would need a family who will encourage openness with her sister. She also has a younger half-sister that lives with her birth father. There is a possibility that at some point in the future, there may be some type of openness with this sibling as well. Additionally, Talia may have openness with her birth mother however; this is not confirmed at this time.
