ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Personality Academics

Bobby can be guarded with sharing his hopes and dreams but once a trusting relationship is developed, he will openly engage in meaningful conversations. Bobby is beginning to develop strong, positive relationships within his current home. He is learning to trust adults and feel safe both at home and in school. When Bobby’s emotional and physical well-being are taken care of, he has the ability for positive growth and development. When feeling safe and supported Bobby will open up about his feelings. He has been discussing adoption and is beginning to see this as an option for himself.

Bobby is currently in a specialized school program that meets his emotional and behavioural needs. He has additional support to assist with reading and writing, attention and self-regulation. In addition, Bobby benefits from support to remain on task and to manage his responses when school is stressful. While he currently has a shortened school day, Bobby has shown motivation to expand his school day when he is ready to do so. He requires parents who have some insight into the education system; along with the capacity to be actively involved and strong advocates for his needs.

Openness Special Considerations

Bobby has a relationship with his birth mother. He connects with her through social media and historically they have enjoyed some brief, activity-based visits in the community supported by Bobby’s caregivers. Bobby’s mother is important to him and while the frequency of their contact can fluctuate, it is important for him to know that his mother is safe and well. In addition to his openness contact with his birth mother, Bobby has recently begun to make some other connections within his extended family through social media exchanges. Bobby has recently had some connection with his birth father through social media. Moving forward, it will be important to consider how to provide safe and fulfilling openness connections for Bobby with his birth family that are consistent with his wishes.

Bobby benefits from adults who can help him to recognize his many strengths, while helping him to work on areas of growth without becoming discouraged. He responds well to clear, consistent expectations and a high level of support in his daily activities and peer relationships. Bobby is a young man who experiences his emotions intensely and he benefits from caregivers who can help him to manage these strong emotions in a safe and healthy manner.

Matching Considerations Questions?

Bobby would do best in a two-parent family who understands attachment and trauma and will be able to realize that some of Bobby’s needs are a result of attachment needs rather than poor behavioural choices. An “at-home” parent, or parents with some flexibility in their schedule to allow for collaboration with school and therapeutic supports will be best suited for this vibrant teen. Parents for Bobby will require a strong, readily accessible support system and a willingness to engage with professional supports.

He will need a family that can spend time with him and create a safe space around him. Bobby would love a kind, patient and loving family. He understands his own needs and he will do best with parents who will stand beside him through good and hard times.
