Online Adoption Events

Would you like to build your knowledge with tools, tips and strategies to help you in your adoption and parenting journey?

AdoptOntario’s Online Adoption Events are an exciting, new way of connecting families with waiting children and youth.

The Profile Night

Workers present profile(s) of children and youth for families to consider. At these events attendees will:

  • see specific children available for adoption;
  • ask questions of workers about profiles;
  • view profiles after the event on an online platform;
  • express interest in potential matches.

Profile Event on Grief, Loss, Attachment and Trauma (Register)

Date: October 10th, 2018
Time: 7:00PM – 8:30PM

Children and youth in foster care have all experienced some sense of loss - from the disruption of a daily routine, loss of personal belongings, to being separated from their family members. Additionally, many children have also had traumatic early life experiences that may be difficult for them to understand. Children at all developmental stages will feel the impact of grief, loss, attachment and trauma and need support from caregivers.

Come meet five children and youth, ranging from ages ten and fourteen, all of whom have been impacted by grief, loss, attachment and trauma in various ways. Learn about their successes in overcoming obstacles and where they need support from adults in their lives.

Profile Event on Developmental Needs (Register)

Time: 7:00PM – 8:30PM

Developmental milestones do not occur at the same time for all children and youth. This can be because of a medical condition, early life experiences or other diagnoses. Sometimes different supports are needed at home or at school to ensure that children progress at their own pace and show you just how amazing they can be!

The children and youth being profile are between the ages of seven and fifteen and include both single children and a sibling group. Come learn about their awesome accomplishments and what they would need from adoptive families to continue to thrive and grow. 

Profile Event on Parenting Sibling Groups (Register)

Have you ever thought about adopting siblings? Are you aware of the many joys and rewards of parenting siblings? Being placed together not only protects children against trauma of further separation and loss, but also enhances their sense of safety, well-being and identity.

Within each sibling group, each child has different needs, and interests that require a family to love, accept their connections to one another and recognize the individual support they will need to grow and flourish. Join us to learn about an amazing group of siblings in need of adoptive families to cherish, support and care for them as they grow and develop.

Profile Event on Parenting Adolescents (Register

You never outgrow wanting or needing a family. Adolescents need just as much support as other children in care, even past the age of 18. They need encouragement to keep up with their studies, further their education, and have a place to call home.

Meet these wonderful, dynamic teenagers, ages thirteen through seventeen who are seeking long-term connections with a forever family.

Interested in learning more about parenting a child or youth with complex medical needs? Want more information and education about what parenting a child with medical needs looks like? Join us for an educational panel webinar on Wednesday, January 16 at 7pm, where we will hear from multiple adoptive families who are currently parenting a child with medical needs. They will provide information about their experiences, services that are available to them, and what their day to day looks like.

Come meet some kids who are truly exceptional as they grow and develop with some special medical requirements!  Education will accompany each child’s profile to help you gain a better understanding of how to manage and support a child who has some complex medical needs.

The children and youth being profiled are between the ages of one and twelve and each has unique personality to go along with their unique needs.  They are all looking for families ready to get a little extra education and an open heart who are ready to support these children as they reach their fullest potential!

Profile Event on Autism (Register)

Parenting a child on the autism spectrum can be a wonderful and fulfilling journey. These youth have many unique talents, hobbies, interests and personality traits that make them special and delightful. With support, resources and a loving dedicated family, youth impacted by autism spectrum disorder can live successful lives.

Spend an evening with us learning about five exceptional youth with interests and talents from reading, movies and crafts to sports, nature, and singing.  These amazing teens need an adoptive family like you to celebrate their many milestones in life and a family to experience many more with.

Profile Event on Kids For Keeps! (Register)

An outdoorsy kid, a science-fiction fan, an adolescent with a joy of food and cooking, all with warm and loving personalities – these kids are for keeps! The children profiled during this webinar all come with unique personalities and talents, as well as various needs that require a supportive and loving forever family.

Profile Event on Prenatal Alcohol Exposure (Register)

Are you ready to meet some amazing kids? We are presenting some awesome children who are currently looking for their forever families. The children being presented have been prenatally exposed to alcohol. While these prenatal exposure experiences can impact that way children process information or express emotions, they also have many positive attributes that with the support of their forever family, can help them overcome challenges.

Come hear these children’s workers talk about each child’s unique personality as well as strategies that potential parents can use to best support the children and youth presented. The children being presented are between the ages of three and nine and include both single children and sibling groups.

The Education Webcasts - Coming Soon!

Experts in various topics such as Autism, Prenatal Alcohol Exposure, Trauma, etc present information aimed at demystifying stigma and offering insight into what parenting a child with each need is like. By watching these webcasts you will:

  • learn about the needs of young people with these needs;
  • gain perspective;
  • learn parenting tips and tools;
  • open your hearts to children and youth with exceptional needs.
